NSF: Delta bags 158 gold medals, wins National Sports Festival

Team Delta finished first overall at the 20th National Sports Festival which ended on Wednesday in Benin city, Edo state.


The state earned a total of 384 medals, including 158 gold, 116 silver and 110 bronze.

Edo state amassed 129 gold, 104 silver and 108 bronze medals to finish second on the NSF log.

Bayelsa, Rivers, Lagos and Oyo states came third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

The Oluyole Warriors, after their qualification to round 32 early this morning without kicking the ball, following the refusal of Zamfara United FC to show up for the round of 64 fixture at the Area 3 field, Abuja have been expelled from the oldest football competition in Nigeria. In a letter signed by the director for competition, Ruth David, on behalf of the Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary. Five players who were not registered with the Nigeria Football Federation for this year edition were fielded in today's match against Zamfara United.
