Delta to Host 2022 National Sports Festival, Retains Title

Defending champions of the National Sports Festival, Delta State made good its promise to win the 20th edition which ended today in Benin city, Edo state with a total haul of 384 medals. It is Delta’s seventh NSF title.



Team Delta also won the host right for the 21st edition as announced at the closing ceremony.

Kano, Kaduna, Oyo states have shown interest to before the commencement of the fiesta but Delta state won the host right.

The Oluyole Warriors, after their qualification to round 32 early this morning without kicking the ball, following the refusal of Zamfara United FC to show up for the round of 64 fixture at the Area 3 field, Abuja have been expelled from the oldest football competition in Nigeria. In a letter signed by the director for competition, Ruth David, on behalf of the Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary. Five players who were not registered with the Nigeria Football Federation for this year edition were fielded in today's match against Zamfara United.
