The Executive Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Hon. Taiwo Lekan-Salami, has pledged to make players’ welfare a top priority during his administration, with a strong focus on implementing a comprehensive health insurance scheme.
Speaking during a live appearance on the popular sports programme ‘Lori Papa’, hosted by Alhaji Babatunde Saheed on Success 105.3 FM, Hon. Taiwo stressed the importance of player well-being, both on and off the pitch.
“The welfare of our players is critical to their performance and overall contribution to the club,” he said. “With the health insurance initiative, we aim to provide financial protection and easy access to medical care, especially in cases of injuries or illness.”
Addressing concerns about two players currently dealing with injuries, Hon. Taiwo assured listeners that the club would shoulder full responsibility for their care.
“We’ve already committed to taking care of the two injured players we met on ground. Once the insurance premiums are fully paid, the scheme will cover the cost of treatment for any injured player,” he explained.
He further noted that the new administration is already putting strategies in place to align the club’s operations with the goals of the health insurance scheme.
“The welfare of athletes will not be compromised under my leadership,” he affirmed.
This move has been welcomed by fans and sports stakeholders, who view it as a progressive step toward ensuring long-term sustainability and professionalism in the club’s management.
The newly appointed Chairman, Hon. Taiwo, assumed office following his appointment by Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on July 7, 2025.
Since taking the helm of the Oluyole Warriors, Hon. Taiwo has hit the ground running, initiating a comprehensive restructuring of the club’s operations. Key among the changes is the appointment of a new Chief Operating Officer and a new Head Coach, signaling a renewed focus on professionalism and performance within the team.
The restructuring is part of broader efforts to reposition 3SC as a formidable force in Nigerian football, both on and off the pitch.
