Crown FC of Ogbomoso will tomorrow's evening be in action at the Soun Stadium with FC One Rocket in the matchday one of the 2023/24 Nigeria National League. It will be the first official match for Head Coach Raheem Tajudeen, who was appointed by the club management following the resignation of Coach Anthony Encho five months ago, who later joined Ijebu United. The Ajilete Warriors missed the promotion ticket last season after finishing third on the group B2 standings on the last day after losing to Gateway United at Ilaro stadium.
In an exclusive interview with OyoSportsNews shortly after the club management unveiled the new season club jerseys and players Coach Raheem Tajudeen sounds ready for the monumental task ahead of restoring order, progression, and most importantly, promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The Ajilete Warriors had tasted the elite league twice but got relegated immediately, no thanks to inadequate funding, playing away from home as a result of Soun stadium standard and factors beyond the club's control. According to Raheem Tajudeen, the target is certainly to secure a promotion ticket.
"I've worked with many top football coaches as an assistant with Crown FC. Coach Milo (of the blessed memory), Coach Niyi Akande, Coach Oyekale, Tella, Osho Fatai, Hakeem Busari, Anthony Encho and many more. I'm happy to be named as the Head Coach and the management in thier wisdom believed I should tutor the team."
Raheem Tajudeen, who had worked as feeders' team coach before he was promoted to the main team in 2019 had unbeaten run at the first edition of NNL NALCOMA Pre-season Tourney. He emphasized on the striking role as a major concerns during thier pre-season matches and according to him, it has been resolved.
"Pre-season matches are meant to discover areas that needed adjustment or replacement. That, I can confidently tell you that it has been sorted positively. We had good run in Jos and with other south west teams. In fact, the improvement were massive and we are ready for tomorrow's league opener against FC One Rocket."
"In the last two seasons, we've never lost at home, although we drew to FC One Rocket and Ijebu United in the previous season and the recently concluded season. This time around, Soun stadium is a fortress to all visiting teams and we shall continue to get good results in away fixtures. It is not going to be easy but we are mentally fit, tactically balance and psychologically stable for the season."
He also speaks on the club new signings and the retained players.
"We had Ugo the team captain, Fabode Olatain, Kamorudeen Ogunjobi, and many experienced players with the newly recruited best legs. We are good to go."
Coach Raheem Tajudeen also seized the opportunity to thank the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, the new General Manager Mr Olamide Ilupeju and fans and supporters of the Ajilete Warriors for thier unrelenting supports to the development of sports and Crown FC. He also promised to deliver the promotion ticket at the end of the season.
