After three days of research, drawn mainly from posts on the official Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) Facebook handle, findings show that former Technical Adviser Gbenga Ogunbote signed over 78 players between August 22, 2022, and July 23, 2025 — a period spanning two years and eleven months, covering three football seasons.
Despite the high turnover of players, Shooting Stars recorded no continental football qualification and did not reach the Federation Cup final.
The only trophies secured during Ogunbote’s reign were:
  • ValueJet Cup (Preseason)
  • Doxy Nmobuosi Super Cup
  • Oyo State Federation Cup
  • Seyi Makinde Football Volunteer Movement Trophy

The Oluyole Warriors, after their qualification to round 32 early this morning without kicking the ball, following the refusal of Zamfara United FC to show up for the round of 64 fixture at the Area 3 field, Abuja have been expelled from the oldest football competition in Nigeria. In a letter signed by the director for competition, Ruth David, on behalf of the Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary. Five players who were not registered with the Nigeria Football Federation for this year edition were fielded in today's match against Zamfara United.
