RISING STAR EMERGES FIRST IN OYO SUMMER BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The Rising Star male basketball team has emerged first in this year 'Show Time Summer Slam Basketball Tournament' organized by the Oyo State Sports Council in collaboration with the Showtime Entertainments, Nigeria.

The summer tournament that featured both the male and female categories was held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

At the female category, Flying Stars were 6points better than thier counterparts, Rising Stars by 13points to 7points, while Rising Stars male basketball team beat the University of Ibadan male basketball team with 45-40 points.

In his closing remark, the Chairman of the Oyo State Sports Council, Hon. Gbenga Adewusi 'Arole' commended all participating teams and also congratulated the winners.

Meanwhile, in the male category, ten registered basketball teams that took part at the summer tournament; Liberty Shield, Under 14 Starlets, University of Ibadan, Poly Warriors, Show Time, Golden Hoopers, Ollysan, Hoop Dreams, Rising Star, and Spartans.

Flying Stars, Liberty, Spears, Hoop Dreams and Show Time were teams at the female category.

The two days intensive competition was funded by the Chief Executive Officer of the Showtime Entertainment, Nigeria, Mr Durojaiye Shoola who is also a renowned and versatile basketballer.
