NPFL STATUS: OYO FA COMMENDS GOV MAKINDE, STAKEHOLDERS

The Oyo State Football Association under the Chairmanship of HRM Oba James Odeniran, has sent appreciation messages to Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for his unrelenting support and commitment after Shooting Stars successfully retained her Nigeria Premier Football League status at the just concluded 2022/2023 football season.
Unlike last season, when Shooting Stars had to wait until Matchday 38 fixture to guarantee their safety at the top flight league, - despite losing to Kano Pillars in Kano, Wikki Tourists gave the Oluyole Warriors another lifeline after 2-0 win over Katsina United in Bauchi.
HRM Oba James Odeniran, the Alakinyele of Akinyele in a message made available to OyoSportsNews through the association secretary, Mr Kehinde Ojelowo expressed profound gratitude to Engr Seyi Makinde, the state commissioner for Youth and Sports, Asiwaju Seun Fakorede, Board member of Oyo Sate Sports Council under Hon Gbenga Adewusi 'Arole', football stakeholders in the state, Fans and Supporters of the club for their support, despite a goalless score against Enyimba on Sunday.
"Permit me to express my profund gratitude to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, for his financial support, cooperation, commitment, and love to our darling team, Shooting Stars. The season has come to an end, and the club is able to retain her position even with a match to round off the seaon. We may not have qualified for Super Six as expected by many fans and supporters, but retaining the league position is a great achievement knowing fully well that abridged format is no respester of any team."
"The team might have a poor run at home, most especially in the first round, but they were able to turn things around at the second round. I also want to change the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Oyo State Sports Council, fans, supporters, and the Oyo State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria for job well done"
Also praising Shooting Stars technical crew headed by Coach Gbenga Ogunbote. Oba James Odeniran, who also doubles as a member of the League Referees Committee, also lauded Coach Ogunbote for turning things around positively. He also commended the players' courage and performances that helped them sustain the league status.
Shooting Stars on Sunday finished the season with 23points after five wins, five defeats and eight draws. The Ibadan based side occupied sixth position on group A Standings of the Nigeria Premier Football League 2022/23 sesson.
