Crown FC midfielder Aboh Erasmus 'Eraspidoh' is chasing success on all fronts this season - insisting the current crop of Ajilete Warriors players need to secure promotion ticket to the elite league which will consider them to be greats.
The former Lobi Stars playmaker is still haunted by the memory of last Monday's defeat in Lagos to Joy Cometh FC that cost Crown FC thier second away win which could have also helped them reach 15points to stand in pole position to top the Nigeria National League Southern Conference Group B2.
Twenty-four hours after their defeat to Joy Cometh FC, Erasmus says he still wakes up at night thinking of what could have happened to the team after wasting more than five scoring chances.
However, the former Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS FC) player has challenged his Crown FC teammates to put their painful defeat against Joy Cometh FC behind them when they continue their National League promotion chase against another contender from Lagos on Saturday.
Erasmus told OyoSportsNews after declaring his confidence in his team-mates to bounce back against Sporting Lagos FC this weekend.
“We have to pick ourselves up and go again at the weekend because it’s another big game against a very good side,” Erasmus said.
“We’ve got the chance to get 15points in Lagos on Monday but we blew it away, we were perfectly in control of the match after our equalizer and particularly in the second half but it was unfortunate that we lost. The memory of the whole thing keeps coming to me every minute but football is about a team that can create chances and convert it."
“We can't afford to drop points again, most especially our next two matches. I want to urge my team-mates to forget about what happened in Lagos and concentrate ahead this Saturday’s crucial match against Sporting Lagos."
"We’re third on the table with 12points and a win is very important for us. We can only do that by responding and picking up three points at the weekend.
“We can’t stay down because Sporting Lagos will come here on the front foot, they’re playing well and if we’re not at it we’ll drop points. We are fresh at the moment and, if we take the game to them, victory is sure." He said.
This weekend, Gateway will host Ijebu United at the Dipo Dina International Stadium, while Smart City FC will welcome Joy Cometh FC in Lagos. The Ajilete Warriors will also be hoping to do double over Sporting Lagos at the Soun Township Stadium on Saturday.
