OYO FA MOURNS COACH FESTUS ADEGOJU, AS FINAL BURIAL RITES BEGINS

The Oyo State Football Association has commiserated with the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA) and the family of Coach Festus Adegoju who passed away on Sunday, 1st of January 2023 after a brief illness.
The late Festus Adegoju until his death was the Chairman of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA) Oyo State Chapter and South West Coordinator of Football Coaches Association of Africa Nations (FCAAN).
In a condolence message signed by the Association's secretary Mr Kehinde Ojelowo, he said; "On behalf of HRM Oba James ỌdẹnÃran, the entire members of the Oyo FA commiserated with the widow, children, family members, friends, Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), Football Stakeholders and the Nigerian sporting family over the death of Coach Festus Adegoju who died 1st of January. His profile and experience will no doubt create a big vacuum in the development of the game in the state and beyond."
Adegoju, an ebullient and respected CAF A License Coach - whose sudden death was tragic beyond words was also described as a rare gem who was ready to help on any given capacity.
"He will be greatly missed even beyond the round leather game, he was an astute Instructor, Coach, Lecturer and Sports Scientist. We (Oyo FA) have decided to honour him by providing the family with a complete track suit and cap as he begins his journey to eternal home. Also, his coffins will be draped with both Nigeria Oyo state flags".
Meanwhile, final burial rites of Adegoju start today, Friday, 6th of January with a novelty football match between Oyo State Football Coaches Association and University of Ibadan All Stars at the New Stadium, University of Ibadan at 3:30pm.
Late Festus Adegoju, who died at the age of 61 will be interred on Saturday, January 7 at his residence, Adunmu Quarters, Morubo Apete, Ibadan at 12noon. He is survived by wife and children.
