Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Abiodun Makinde, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) as he confirmed his presence at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, this Sunday when the Oluyole Warriors host Plateau United in their Matchday 7 clash of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The Governor made this assurance on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the club’s chairman, Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami, who briefed him on the progress of the team since his appointment. Salami noted that the players are highly motivated and remain determined to achieve the continental target set for them by Governor Makinde.
While receiving a souvenir box from the chairman, Governor Makinde pledged to be in the stands to cheer the team, stressing that his presence is not just symbolic but a reflection of his genuine support for the club’s resurgence.
This is not the first time the Governor will be rallying behind sporting activities in the state. Only last weekend, he was on ground at Adamasingba to witness the Falconets’ emphatic 4-0 victory over Rwanda in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers. His consistency, many believe, continues to inspire athletes and reinforce Oyo State’s place as a hub for sports development in Nigeria.
Expectations are high that his attendance on Sunday will serve as a huge morale booster for the Shooting Stars, who recently secured their first away victory of the season with a dramatic comeback win against Warri Wolves in Ozoro. That result lifted the team to 8th position on the log.
Plateau United, on the other hand, lost 2-1 to Kwara United in Ilorin in a rescheduled game.
The highly anticipated showdown is scheduled for 4pm on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the Lekan Salami Stadium. Fans are optimistic that the Governor’s presence, coupled with the players’ fighting spirit, will spur the Oluyole Warriors to another memorable victory.
