The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort, Chief Engineer Jubril Dotun Sanusi on Monday called on the Oyo State Football Association to ensure that the 2024 Oyo State Jubril Dotun Sanusi Football League is free, fair and maintain high-level of integrity and transparency.
Speaking at the presentation of trophy and unveiling of league logo held at the mini conference hall, Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan. Chief Engineer Dotun Sanusi said he's committed to the development of youth in the state and will do everything possible to make Oyo state a front-runner in Nigeria.
"For this competition, I want the organisers to be free, fair, and maintain a high-level of transparency. Even if Ilaji FC fails to have a podium finish, the coach should take it with good faith. I want us to use this league to showcase the talents we have in Oyo state. We are in a country with the population of over two hundred million, and if our potential is well utilized, we should not struggle with a country with two to five million people.
"JDS Football League has come to stay, and it's going to be a continuous annual football event in Oyo state. It's a project we discussed at the traditional council meeting last year; so it wasn't targeted towards the publicity on the ground." He said.
According to the Oyo State Football Association, the league will kick off on 17th October with playoff matches at across zones while twenty qualified teams will be grouped on abridged format league.
