EXCITEMENT, HIGH EXPECTATIONS AS ORUMOGEGE FOOTBALL COMPETITION SET TO KICK OFF IN OGBOMOSO

The much-awaited first edition of Orumogege Football Competition will kick off September 8, 2024, Organisers have announced.
At a press conference held today at the recreation club, Ogbomoso, chairman of the local organsing committee, Mr. Amos Ado told OyoSportsNews that the organsing committee is ready to make history that will profoundly impact aspiring young sportsmen and foster unity among the people of Ogbomoso. He added that football is one of the powerful tools to bring individuals together from diverse backgrounds, political affiliations, and societal groups.
Mr Amos Ado stressed futher that the motive behind the Orumogege Football Competition stems from the unwavering dedication of His Imperial Majesty,  Orumogege III, Revered Oba Ghandi Olaoye, in various developmental areas and also to complement Oba Ghandi's efforts in promoting sports development.
According to the organisers, thirty-two [32] football teams from all Local Government Areas and LCDAs in Ogbomosoland will be invited, while the competition will be on a knockout basis.
Sunday, 8th of September, 2024 has been announced for the opening match and official kick-off for the maiden edition while the grand final will hold on Thursday, December 26, 2024. The competition is open to all age groups, and participants will have the chance to win cash prizes and gifts, with additional individual awards for various categories.
Mr Amos Ado also called on progressive sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland, private companies, industries, corporate organisations, and individuals both within and in the diaspora for sponsorship and partnership.
He also assured that stringent security measures have been put in place for the safety of the football lovers throughout the competition.
Dignitaries present at the event are Reverend Peter Olaleye President OCYF, Chairman, Ogbomoso FootballCouncil, Mr Ogunwola Afolabi Omotoso, Chairman Ogbomoso chapter of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Alh Abdulazeez Bashiru, the committee secretary, Mr Adeniji Idowu and Mrs Olufunke Ajagbe.
