Shooting Stars of Ibadan under Technical Adviser Gbenga Ogunbote will today begin their first Grade A Pre-season tournament with a fixture against Beyond Limits Football Academy.
Few days ago, Beyond Limits FA was said to have replaced Sunshine Stars of Akure by the organizers of ValueJet Cup 2023 after the management of the Akure Gunners cited no reason but OyoSportsNews gathered that funds were the major reason for thier non participation.

The Chairman of ValueJet Cup 2023, Otunba Tade Azeez shortly after the draws were conducted reiterated that the off-season tournament which was designed to support the Nigeria Premier League clubs ahead of the new season and continental assignments shall continue to set good standard in the country. He also added a 100 percent increment for all participating clubs at the second edition billed to start today, August 4 to August 10, 2023.
"We have have increased the pool of revenue for the participating clubs, there will be 100% increment in the appearance and logistics fees. Each club will earn N500,000 while the winner will take home N2million as prize money. The second and third-placed teams will get an improved amount of N1.5million and N1million respectively". Tade said.
In Group A, defending champions Remo Stars are grouped alongside Kwara United, Heartland FC, and Sporting Lagos while Rivers United, Abia Warriors, Shooting Stars and Beyond Limits FA are in Group B.
Hostilities begin today at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne at 9am when Remo Stars take on Kwara United. Newly promoted side, Heartland FC will face Sporting Lagos at 2pm while Shooting Stars will lock horns with Beyond Limits FA at 4pm.

According to ValueJet Cup 2023 Director of Communication Adepoju Tobi Samuel 'Oga Nla Media', Optimus Bank has been announced as the sponsor for Man of the Match award. He said N1.5million (N100,000) each will serve as reward for any player that emerged Man of the Match in all the ten matches. Adepoju added that matches will be live on ValueJet Cup YouTube channel.
