The city of Ibadan is gearing up for another exhilarating spectacle as the 7th edition of the Propella 3x3 Basketball Tournament returns with heightened excitement and a broadened competitive field. Organised by the Propella Foundation, this year’s edition promises intense action, youthful energy and top-tier entertainment befitting one of the most anticipated grassroots basketball events in the region.
The tournament will hold on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Basketball Outside Court of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan. Proceedings are billed to tip off at 8:00 a.m., with teams from within and outside Oyo State ready to battle for supremacy in the fast-paced 3x3 format that continues to gain traction across Nigeria.
A total of six Ibadan-based teams have confirmed their participation, including Showtyme Hoopers, Rising Stars, Liberty Spears, Ollysan Basketball, The Polytechnic Ibadan, and the University of Ibadan. They will be joined by six visiting sides such as LAUTECH Ogbomoso, Obafemi Awolowo University (Ile-Ife), Kwara State University (Ilorin), Beavers Basketball (Lagos), Vision Basketball (Abeokuta) and Ondo Raiders (Akure), guaranteeing a vibrant mix of styles, rivalries and fresh challenges.
Historically, the tournament has produced thrilling champions, with Mama Gold dominating three editions; 2020, 2021 and 2023. Rock Toppers, Hoop Dreams Ambassador and the University of Ibadan have each claimed the title once. As the defending champions, the University of Ibadan team will be aiming to retain their crown, but with the field strengthened and reputations on the line, only the games will reveal who rises to the occasion.
In addition to the main competition, players and fans can expect a colourful blend of trophies, medals, individual awards, special recognitions and an entertainment segment designed to elevate the experience for spectators and participants alike.
The Propella Foundation remains committed to providing platforms that nurture talent, encourage sportsmanship and grow basketball culture across the South-West. All roads will lead to Adamasingba as Ibadan once again becomes the heartbeat of grassroots basketball.
