IBADAN POLO SET FOR A SPECTACULAR 2025 AAG CAPITAL PRESIDENTS CUP

The ancient city of Ibadan is set to host another thrilling edition of the AAG Capital Presidents Cup, as the Ibadan Polo Club announces its 2025 tournament scheduled to hold from 22nd to 23rd November, 2025. Six top-flight teams will compete for honours in what promises to be a memorable weekend of world-class polo and wholesome entertainment.
President of the Ibadan Polo Club, Mr. Abimbola Adeyemi, revealed during a media briefing on Wednesday that Lagos-based sides Bemil-Aka and Tharwa Mikano will headline this year’s guest teams. They will be joined by AAG Capital, Almina Group, MSR-BUA, and Red Couch.
Polo enthusiasts can look forward to watching some of the sport’s finest talents, including Ahmed Umar, Dantala Ibrahim, and Yemo Alakija, as they saddle up to deliver top-quality action on the prestigious Ibadan turf.
Mr. Adeyemi further disclosed that several high-profile dignitaries will grace this year’s edition, including the Speaker of the Ninth Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Edward Ogundoyin; the Oyo State Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Kazeem Adeniyi Bibire; and the Commander, 42 Engineer Brigade, Ibadan, Brig. Gen. S.O.G. Aremu.
To ensure a smooth and unforgettable experience, the Ibadan Polo Club executives have assured all spectators of maximum security, quality medical support, steady refreshments, and a wide range of entertainment options throughout the tournament. From well-coordinated gate control to on-ground medical personnel and an organised hospitality section, fans can expect top-tier comfort and safety.
Attendance remains free for all polo lovers across Oyo State and beyond. The gates to the Ibadan Polo Ground, Eleyele Road, will open daily, with matches galloping off at 3:00 PM. The Oluyole Warriors, after their qualification to round 32 early this morning without kicking the ball, following the refusal of Zamfara United FC to show up for the round of 64 fixture at the Area 3 field, Abuja have been expelled from the oldest football competition in Nigeria. In a letter signed by the director for competition, Ruth David, on behalf of the Nigeria Football Federation General Secretary. Five players who were not registered with the Nigeria Football Federation for this year edition were fielded in today's match against Zamfara United.
