YOUTH GAMES: TEAM OYO RETURN HOME, CHARGES ATHLETES TO IMPROVE ON PERFORMANCE

Oyo state contingent to the 7th National Youth Games have safely returned to Ibadan the state capital from Asaba, Delta state, where the annual event took place.
Team Oyo had good outings where they won 4 gold, 4 silver, and nine bronze medals. The team, which took part in 20 sports, had a total of 17 medals.
Acting General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council Mr Tunde Ajibike, who led the delegation back home, appreciated His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde, Oyo state commissioner for youth and sports Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, the entire staff of the Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Oyo State Sports Council. He gave God the glory that through out thier stay in Asaba, no casualties were recorded both at game village and centres.

Tunde Ajibike also charged athletes to engage in personal training and improved on subsequent competitions. He, however, thanked parents for allowing their children to participate in sports and charge them to do more by encouraging them to attend training and competitions both at the state and national level.
Oyo state participated in 20 events with I67 athletes, 41 sports officers, coaches and top officials.
