Oyo State representative at the Nigeria National League, Crown FC of Ogbomoso battled back from a goal down at the first half to beat visiting Ijele FC of Enugu 2-1 at the Soun stadium, Ogbomoso on Saturday afternoon. Alex Izunna's strike gave the Masquerade boys the lead at the opening 15th minute, but Adekunle Mojeed and Moses Ngbede scored before the break to help their side secure a victory.
However, the technical adviser of the Ajilete Warriors, Ayodeji Ayeni, insists the win has done little to relieve the pressure on the boys after losing their opening match in Sapele 2-0 to Warri Wolves.
"It was a good match for the boys and the team generally. We conceded an early goal, but we picked up the pieces, fought back, and took the lead. We need to critically address keeping clean sheet in our games and I believe this will help us alot. The league is a marathon race and doesn’t matter how you started, we've put the defeat in Sapele behind us and we must build on today's victory in our next away match."
Asked if he's under pressure on his first official league home match, Ayeni replied: "Pressure! Anyways, coaching job is all about pressure but I don't think the team is under pressure. Every match has it's own approach, we take it one after the other and we hope to finish well."
He also thanked the teeming fans and supporters of the Ajilete Warriors for thier support during the pre-season programme and asked for thier continuous support as the league progresses.
Meanwhile, Crown FC's next match against Inter Lagos FC has been put on hold. This was contained in a letter made available to the club by the National League body. According to the letter signed by Chief Operating Officer of the league body, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahaman, new date will be communicated to the concerned clubs.
