OYO SPORTS COMMISSIONER READS RIOT ACT TO COACHES

The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth & Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke has decried the unwholesome act of some Coaches that are exploiting the Athletes in Oyo State.  The Commissioner expressed her displeasure today at a meeting organised for the Management Staff, Sport Officers and Coaches at the Mainbowl of Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan. Hon. Wasilat Adegoke remarked further that punitive measures will be taken against erring Coaches that are taken undue advantage of the innocent Athletes, adding that the Ministry will not hesitate to penalise them accordingly. While addressing the Stakeholders at the Sports Complex, She admonished them to inculcate discipline in their Athletes and ensure that they exhibit exemplary leadership qualities that will be of immense help to mould the lives of the Athletes. The Nigeria National League Club Owners and Managers Association has received with rude shock and deep sense of loss the sad demise of Honourable Abubakar Ekene Adams who departed early Tuesday July 16th, 2024. Chairman, Best Talent Football Club of Mowe has revealed reasons why he brought the Mega Scouting Programme to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.  The ex player who was also a product of grassroots football development in the state before he jetted out of the shore of Nigeria disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen in at the Mega Scouting programme organized by Shino Sport and Kontinental Management programme taking place at University of Ibadan Sports Complex, Awo. AA AZTEC FOOTBALL ACADEMY STORMS PORTUGAL FOR A MONTH SCOUTING PROGRAMME

The delegation made up of 10 players and three officials left the shores of Nigeria via a flight from the international wing of the Muritala Mohammad Airport on Tuesday for Lisbon. Prince Ademola Olawepo Shennowo, President of the fast-growing football academy gave an insight into the programme details.  "The scouting program in Portugal is tagged Club Athlectico Trial and it will run for one month. "Our technical coaching staff have selected the best for the programme after the 10 talents had undergone intense training to develop their football skills and prepare them for the highest level in games and tournaments against other top football academies in and out of Ibadan." BOXING: OYO ATHLETES CLINCH THREE GOLD IN GAMMA

Three boxing athletes from Oyo state have secured three gold medals at the recently concluded Lagos Boxing Hall of fames tournament organised by the Global Association for Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) held at the Landmark Hall, Lagos between 25th June to 30th, 2024. The trio of Odebode Opeyemi, Abeeb kazeem, and Taofikat Adepoju clinched gold medals each at different categories. The six days tournament which involved the six south western states of Nigeria featured four weight categories, namely: 48kg, 60kg and 85kg respectively. The fourth athlete that participated from Oyo State, Ramoni Folarin sustained injury by the solar pole which prevented him from partaking in the tournament till the end. The exhilarated Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke commended the athletes for their outstanding and unique performances stressing that the athletes should not relent in their efforts to achieve greater heights in the nearest future. OYO VISUALLY IMPAIRED CYCLIST CLINCHES THREE MEDALS AT PARA CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIP

At the recently concluded 2024 African Para-cycling track and road championship held in Cairo, Egypt, Tijani Oyindamola Abdullahi, a para visually impaired and his pilot Ajibade Quadri have won one gold medal, one silver medal and two bronze medals. The four days event which took place as from 26th to 29th June 2024 featured three track events namely: Sprint Gold, Individual Pursuit trials and one kilometer trial. The tournament served as final qualification for the 2024 Paralympic games in Paris and also 2024 UCI World Championship at Denmark in September.  Seven African countries that participated actively are Egypt,Morocco,Kenya,Tunisia,Manritius and Ghana and Nigeria. The Oyo State Commissioner for youth and sports,Honorable Wasilat Adegoke commended the athletes for their unique and excellent performances stressing that they should not relent in their efforts to make the state proud in national and international tournaments.

The organizers of the much anticipated megal Football Scouting programme in the ancient city of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital , Best Talent FC in conjunction with Shino Sport &Kontinental Management have released the final list of clubs that met the requirement standards.  The Chairman of Best Talent FC , Mr Adeyinka Adeyemo while congratulating those who made the cut noted that young and exiting talented players will enjoy the traveling tour with the organizers and thus comes with great prospects in year to come.
